Local Village Visit

The capital city of Fira, sometimes also called Thira, is a real jewel of the island. It is located on the west coast on a 300-meter cliff and is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Santorini. There is much to see on a tour of the center, and you will be amazed at the abundance of fascinating attractions, museums and spectacular viewpoints. The panorama is simply magical, with whitewashed houses and sheer cratered cliffs that, together with the deep blue sea, provide unique possibilities for photography. Also worth seeing in Fira are the Archaeological Museum, the Metropolis Cathedral, the Catholic Quarter with the Church of Ágios Ioánnis Baptists and the Three Bells of Fira Church. A special feature of the city is the famous Karavolades Staircase, which has 588 steps that lead down to the old harbor. The best way to get to the top is to take the modern cable car, which also offers a magnificent view.
